DIY Avocado Bar Dish

Day 7 - Avocado

Bring a splash of fun and functionality to your bathroom with this creative avocado-shaped dish holding all your Viva Maia bars !

A playful and practical dish for your Viva Maia Bars!

Ideal for showcasing your soap or bar products, this charming DIY project blends functionality with a touch of whimsy. It’s a stylish addition to your home and makes for a heartfelt, thoughtful gift for someone special.

How to Make It:

  1. Prepare the Clay: Start by softening your air-dry clay. Knead it into a smooth ball to remove any cracks or uneven textures.
  2. Shape the Base: Roll out the clay into an even layer and cut out a basic avocado shape using a sculpting tool or knife. This will form the holder’s base.
  3. Create the Rim: Roll a thin strip of clay and attach it around the edge of the avocado shape to form a raised rim. This rim will keep your soap bar in place. Smooth the joint with your fingers and a bit of water.
  4. Carve the Pit: Using a sculpting tool, create a circular indent in the middle of the base to mimic the avocado seed. Make sure it’s shallow enough to keep the surface functional.
  5. Smooth the Edges: Use your fingers or a damp brush to smooth out any rough edges and refine the overall shape.
  6. Let It Dry: Leave the clay to dry completely, following the instructions on the packaging.
  7. Paint the Avocado Design: Once the clay is dry, bring your avocado to life with paint! Use green shades for the “flesh,” a dark green for the “peel,” and brown for the “pit.” Let the paint dry thoroughly.
  8. Seal It: Apply a clear waterproof sealant to protect the holder from soap and water.
  9. Use and Enjoy: Place your soap bar in the holder and let this playful avocado brighten your sink or shower!
